RECORD BOOK COMPETITION
 2008
Record Book Competition
for Youth Across America award winner and medalists

This LANA Youth Award Packet is a marvelous opportunity for you to share your llama project and experiences with others. You need not be a member of LANA to participate in this competition.

Judges will select one Youth Across America winner to receive a $500.00 scholarship, and a scholarship to the Youth Expo Program to this year's LANA Expo in Fallon, Nevada.  Gold, silver and bronze medal winners in each age category will be also be awarded a scholarship for the Youth Expo Program. If you are not selected as an award or medal winner this year, don't be disheartened; use the feedback from the judges to build an even better record book for future competitions.
This project report appears to be a huge undertaking, and it is. However, the rewards of winning are tremendous. Expenses will be paid by LANA for transportation (from a continental US address), lodging, EXPO Youth Program registration, and included meals for the Youth Across America Award Winner and one chaperone. All medalists will be recognized at the Expo and may be featured in LANA's newsletter.
The directions and record book order of contents are attached. 4-H Record Books, LANA or other forms are acceptable, however, it is important that you make sure your record book includes all of the topics required in the application. You may use additional LANA or other forms to make sure your record is complete. You may download LANA or 4-H forms or request them from Tammie Munson or the LANA business office.

Before you proceed, please do the following:
-read the entire packet and follow directions!
-if submitting your 4-H record, use COPIES of your 4-H record book  to send in, arrange the records as called for in the instructions and place them in the required 3 ring binder or report folder. Make sure each of the sections is covered.

Additionally, please note the following:
             - the judges are very interested in what you have to share, but have many reports to read, so again, please follow directions and be as concise as possible.
            - what you write should be an individual account of your own experiences. There is a separate section for parent and leader comments, the remainder of the book is to be prepared by you.
The deadline for the record books to be postmarked is May 12, 2008.  Judging will be completed by May 30th, and the medalists and winner will be notified by telephone. All record books will be returned by mail after Expo. Whether or not you are a youth winner, I hope you plan to attend the LANA Expo, and participate in a great youth program and show.
