 What LANA is doing for you, your llamas
and the industry.

1. LANA contributes to the greater llama and alpaca community to benefit both animals and their owners.

Participates in the Camelid Working Group (CWG)

2. Working with other members of llama and alpaca community to gather input and recommend camelid portion of National Animal Identification System.

3. Member of CWG's Outreach and Education Committee, connecting with camelid owners nationwide to publicize program details and gather comments.

Maintains and distributes Camelid Research Fund at Morris Animal Foundation

Annually recognizes people in the llama community who have been of outstanding service to llamas and owners.

4. LANA collaborates with other organizations to provide broader based and enhanced services for camelids and their owners.

ILR: ongoing interaction with the ILR regarding issues of interest to the llama community at large. ILR's 2005 annual meeting was held at LANA Expo.
Works together with Montana Large Animal Sanctuary as well as with other groups in camelid intervention and rescue.

Llama Quest: Partnered in producing educational materials and display at Estes Park, the National FFA convention, and other venues.

Local and Regional Organizations: Cooperates on a variety of youth, packing, show, education and research efforts.

Donates to other organizations and events nation-wide.

3. LANA provides programs and services to its members and continuously looks for new ways to help members and their animals.

Holds annual Expo with wide-ranging educational conference, PLTA sanctioned pack llama trials and double point ALSA show.

Publishes four issues of LANA News with original feature articles, educational departments and current events listings.

Provides quality web site with up-to-the-minute news and information on national camelid issues as well as member services and opportunities.

Produces E-Mail Bulletin to notify members of important issues, information and deadlines and enhance our communication ability.

Selects two practicing veterinarians annually to receive camelid reference packages in the 2006 Hand in Hand Program

4. LANA operates a wide ranging youth program encouraging creativity, leadership, community service, and personal development.

Holds Youth Across America contests annually, open to all youth in Llama Project Record Book, Art, Community Service and Essay, with the record book winner awarded travel, accommodations and scholarship to the annual Youth Program at Expo. Other medal winners have been awarded scholarship to the Expo Youth Program.

Runs 2 day, junior and senior level Youth Educational Programs with top speakers and hands on experience at Expo. Highlighted by CSI; a rousing evening of activities designed to enhance the teamwork, camaraderie, and challenge level of all participating youth.

Provides Youth Showteam Jackets with a co-sponsoring organization to encourage excellence in the show ring.

Provides LANA youth medallion to shows requesting it, rewarding youth who stand out to judges and show personnel in areas such as leadership, cooperation, and sportsmanship.
